Calls Of Disputes Lead To Battery, Obstruction Arrests: Blotters

Incidents and arrests from the Highland Park and Highwood police blotters from Oct. 8 to Oct. 14.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and court records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

CAR BURGLARIES

  • A resident in the 1700 block of McCraren Road reported around 11 a.m. on Oct. 13 that someone stole a briefcase and two jackets from a vehicle during the previous night.
  • A resident in the 1700 block of McCraren reported around 2 p.m. on Oct. 13 that somone had stolen a backpack with various items from a car during the previous night. The backpack was later found in the 1100 block of Princeton Avenue and returned to its owner with its contents intact.

THEFT
A representative of a business in the 600 block of Roger Williams Avenue reported around 9:18 p.m. on Oct. 13 that someone had stolen "miscellaneous items" for an unspecified loss.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 1500 block of Glencoe Avenue reported on the afternoon of Oct. 14 that someone had keyed their car during the previous night.

THEFT
A representative of a business in the 1600 block of Deerfield Road reported around 2:49 p.m. on Oct. 14 that two unidentified people had stolen about $362 worth of items. No descriptions was provided.

ARRESTS

Heidi Morrison, 40, of the 600 block of Sheridan Road in Highwood, was arrested at 6:21 p.m. on Oct. 8 and charged with violation of an order of protection, and obstructing a peace officer after officers were called to a home in the 100 block of Heck Street.

Kenneth Sommer, 44, of the 1200 block of Briarcliff Lane in Highland Park, was arrested at 1:11 p.m. on Oct. 9 and charged with retail theft and criminal damage to property after officers responded to a call to his home.

Christian Camacho, 37, of the 3000 Block of Murphy Road in Highland Park, was arrested around 10:21 p.m. on Oct. 9 and charged with two counts of misdemeanor domestic battery after police were called to a report of a dispute at his home.

Fredo Demaret, 23, of the 500 block of Douglas Avenue in Waukegan, was arrested at 4:14 a.m. on Oct. 10 following a traffic stop in the area of the intersection of Skokie Valley Road and Half Day Road. and charged delivery of cannabis 30 to 500 gram of cannabis, possession of a controlled substance and cited for speeding 26-34 mph over the speed limit and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Jose A. Vasquez, 40, of the 900 block of Deerfield Road in Highland Park, was arrested around 2:03 p.m. on Oct. 11 and charged with criminal trespassing at a home in the 200 block of High Street to which he had already been told not to return.

A 33-year-old Highwood woman was arrested around 4:20 p.m. on Oct. 11 and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license following a traffic stop in the area of Green Bay Road at Michigan Avenue. She was also cited for driving with unsafe equipment.

A 31-year-old Waukegan man was arrested around 9:45 a.m. on Oct. 12 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the area of the intersection of Western and North avenues. He was also cited for running a stop sign.

Nicholas Belmont, 32, of the 900 block of Waukegan Road in Deerfield, was arrested at 4:22 a.m. on Oct. 13 and charged with obstructing police and resisting arrest after officers were called to a report of an argument among friends in the 500 block of Hyacinth Place.

Liam Gardiner, 19, of the 200 block of Main Street in Yorkville, was arrested at 4:55 a.m. on Oct. 14 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of a controlled substance and illegal possession of alcohol by a minor after police were called to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 1800 block of York Avenue.
