Unlicensed Teen Crashes Into Fence, Flees Scene: Blotter

Incidents and arrests from the Highland Park and Highwood police blotters from Oct. 1 - Oct. 7.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and court records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT
A resident walking along the bike path at Orchard Lane and Waukegan Avenue reported at 4:18 p.m. on Oct. 1 they discovered someone had drawn graffiti.

THEFT
A resident in the 1600 block of Mill Trail reported around 6 p.m. on Oct. 6 that someone had stolen various pieces of jewelry from their home. The theft was believed to have taken place over the course of several months, but the resident did not know who may have been behind it.

ARRESTS

A 19-year-old Highwood man was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license and leaving the scene of a property damage accident in connection with a one-car crash involving a fence around 3:10 a.m. on Oct. 5 on northbound Green Bay Road at Sheridan Avenue. He was also cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Highwood police said there were no injuries, and no estimated amount of damage was available.
