District 112 to Add Screening Vestibules at Schools Next Year
Schools that remain open in North Shore School District 112 will have additional security measures.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL - Secure vestibules to screen visitors will be new features at the North Shore School District 112 schools that will remain open next year.
Plans are to add an enclosed area where visitors will be greeted and screened for why they are there at Braeside, Indian Trail, Oak Terrace, Red Oak, Sherwood and Wayne Thomas elementary schools and Edgewood Middle School and Northwood Junior High before the 2017-18 school year, according to a report from the Highland Park News. Adding the additional screening process was labeled as an urgent priority in a recent district Health and Life Safety survey.
"You are basically building a contained space where somebody comes in and can be greeted and processed," John Fuhrer, the district's director of operations and facilities, said.
