Drunk Driver Crashes Into 2 Police Cars: Highland Park Blotter

A Highland Park man was charged with lewd exposure and a Waukegan resident faces felony DUI and child endangerment charges, police reported.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

Nadia Mendoza, 24, of the 5000 block of West Oakdale Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 12:15 a.m. on May 30 and charged with driving under the influence of drugs after she was pulled over for unspecified reasons at the intersection of Skokie Valley and Half Day roads. She was also issued citations for possession of under 10 grams of cannabis and improper lane usage.

Stephen Franks, 55, of the 1900 block of McCraren Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested around 2:30 p.m. on May 31 and charged with three counts of lewd exposure and four counts of disorderly conduct following a complaint from someone who reported being alarmed or disturbed by unreasonable behavior in the 800 block of Sheridan Road.

Agustin Rodriguez-Velazquez, 40, of the 3000 block of George Street, Waukegan, was arrested around 5:30 a.m. on June 1 and charged with two felony counts of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, two counts of misdemeanor DUI and two counts of child endangerment after police pulled him over for unspecified reasons in the area of Skokie Valley Road and Park Avenue West and determined he was driving drunk with a passenger under age 16. He was also issued a citation for improper lane usage.

Mauricio Solano-Rios, 27, of the 900 block of Half Day Road, Highland Park, was arrested around 1:45 p.m. on June 2 on his block of residence and charged with two counts of misdemeanor domestic battery.

Citlallin Boix, 46, of the 2400 block of Ogden Avenue, Downers Grove, was arrested around 8:30 p.m. on June 2 and charged with one count of misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol after crashing into two unoccupied police cars at the intersection of Skokie Valley Road and Park Avenue West. Boix suffered minor injuries and was also issued citations for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid a traffic crash.


The Highland Park Police Department did not report any incidents for the week of May 28 to June 2. The Highwood Police Department never reports any incidents and has not reported an arrest since May 6.
