Endorsement of Davis Schneiderman: Letter

Davis Schneiderman is a born leader who is committed to our community. He is the right person to elect to our City Council. Davis has it all: he is an independent voice, a critical thinker who can analyze complex problems, a gifted and charismatic orator, and a welcoming personality who can work constructively with others.

I have worked closely with Davis since the fall of 2014, leading the “No” movement against the proposed District 112 referendum. What impresses me about Davis is his ability to grasp complex problems, distill salient points, and advocate for a position, often times in the face of intense (and undeserved) criticism. While many politicians speak of their ability to take a difficult stance, Davis has demonstrated it. When Davis speaks, people listen—his ability to clearly communicate his rationale is remarkable.

After the District 112 referendum was defeated, Davis went on to serve as a leader on the D112 2.0 committee, in search of a consensus, community-backed plan for D112.

Davis has been an outspoken advocate for inter-governmental cooperation. He recognizes that the branches of local government do not work in a vacuum-what effects the schools also effects the city, its parks, and the reasons we live in Highland Park.

As both a professor and administrator at Lake Forest College, Davis understands the importance of providing exceptional programming while spending responsibly. Davis has experience in strategic planning and budgeting, and has served on numerous leadership committees. This work makes him well equipped and prepared to serve on city council. He appreciates that a strong business community enhances our ability to expand important community services, including increased bicycle and pedestrian access, senior services, and youth activities.

Let’s make Highland Park a more vibrant, fiscally responsible, and inclusive community. Join me in electing Davis Schneiderman to City Council.
