Glenview Man Charged With LA Fitness Car Burglaries

The 26-year-old is accused of stealing car keys from lockers and using them to take credit cards and electronics from vehicles.

A Glenview man faces several charges in connection to a case of someone stealing car keys from lockers at the LA Fitness in Highland Park and using them to open owners’ vehicles in the parking lot.

Ulrick Jeanty Jr., 26, was arrested June 3 and charged with three counts of burglary from a motor vehicle, three counts of unlawful use of a credit card and one count of theft, according to the Highland Park News. He is accused of fraudulently using credit cards he found inside the owners’ wallets left inside the vehicles to purchase gasoline, clothing, fast food and electronics.

Three incidents were reported in May, the first on May 9 in which a driver’s license, debit card and cash were allegedly taken, the next on May 18 in which a wallet and iPod were reported stolen from a vehicle and the last on the next day, in which a wallet and Samsung cell phone were taken.

Police were able to link Jeanty, a member at LA Fitness, to the incidents through his use of the credit cards.
