High Lead Levels Shut Down 4 Fountains at HPHS
Six of eight samples taken recently tested above the lead action level.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL - Four drinking fountains at Highland Park High School will be shut down due to high lead levels.
Six of eight samples taken from the fountains and one sink at the school recently were found to be over the lead action level of 15 ppb, according to a news release from the city of Highland Park.
The four fixtures found with the high levels will be shut down until the situation is remedied.

The United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (USEPA) action level for lead is 15 parts per billion (ppb) at which point remedial action is recommended. The findings at HPHS are specific to the fixtures there and not connected to the city'w water supply.
