Highland Park Man Charged With Aggravated Assault, DUI: Blotter

Two felony DUI arrests — one of a man charged with brandishing a pool cue — on the Highland Park police blotter from Feb. 25 to March 4.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone smashed the back window of a vehicle parked in the 300 block of Skokie Valley Road between 7:30 and 10:20 a.m. on March 2.

THEFT
A patron of a business in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road reported around 1:30 on March 3 that someone had stolen cash, clothing and keys from an unlocked locker.

ARRESTS

Travis Davis, 33, of the 100 block of Pinehurst Drive, Mundelein, was arrested at 4:41 p.m. on Feb. 25 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or above after officers responded to the scene of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Skokie Valley Road and Half Day Road. There were no injuries reported. Davis was also issued a citation for failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash.

A 56-year-old Highland Park man was arrested at 7:38 p.m. on Feb. 25 and charged with driving without a valid driver's license after police were called to a report of an accident involving a pedestrian at the intersection of First Street and Laurel Avenue. The pedestrian was not seriously injured.

Jorge De Jesus Rojas-Guerrero, 34, of the 1100 block of Indiana Avenue, Waukegan, was arrested around 1:30 a.m. on Feb. 26 following a traffic stop in the area of Skokie Valley and Half Day roads. He was charged with two counts of felony driving under the influence of alcohol — with a license revoked or suspended and without insurance, driving with a suspended or revoked license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol. He was also issued citations for illegal transportation of alcohol and speeding 35 mph over the limit.

A 63-year-old Highwood man was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license following a traffic stop around 7:20 p.m. on Feb. 26 in the area of Western and North avenues. He was also issued a citation for disobeying a stop sign.

Michael Cooper, 48, of the 1200 block of Rudolph Road, Northbrook, was arrested around 9:30 p.m. on March 2 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after officers were called to a report of a suspicious person at a gas station in the first block of Skokie Valley Road. He was also issued a citation for illegal transportation of alcohol.
