Shoplifter Cuts Tethers, Steals Electronics On Display: Blotter

Incidents and arrests from the Highland Park Police Department blotter from Feb. 18 to Feb. 24

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police department and court records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

SHOPLIFTING
Around 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 18, an unidentified thief stole about five cell phones and tablets on display from the Target in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road after cutting the tethers from the electronic devices, police were told. There was no estimated loss at the time of the report.

ARRESTS

Maria Martinez-Templos, 31, of the 100 block of Dittmer Lane, Lindenhurst, was arrested at 2:44 a.m. on Feb. 23 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after she was pulled over by police at the intersection of Skokie Valley and Half Day roads. She was also issued citations for following too closely, speeding and possession of under 10 grams of cannabis.

No arrests have been reported in Highwood since Feb. 5.
Highland Park police do not release information regarding all people it charges if another agency conducted the arrest.
