A Veterans Day Observance will be held by the city of Highland Park on Wednesday, November 11 at 11 a.m. at the Highland Park Public Library, 494 Laurel Avenue. Representatives from the American Legion Post #145, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4737 and Jewish War Veterans #29 will be featured along with Veteran Lloyd S. LeVine, who will be recognized as a "Hero Among Us." LeVine, who has lived in Highland Park for 60 years, was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1946 and served in Europe, Panama, Hawaii, Guam and China.Special guest speakers include State Sen. Julie Morrison, State Rep. Scott Drury, Mayor Nancy Rotering and others. Members of the Highland Park High School Brass Quartet will perform. City offices will be closed for the holiday.
