Bob was a World War II Navy Veteran and helped raise millions of dollars for Little Angels.

The following obituary is courtesy of Kelley and Spalding Funeral Home and Crematory.
Bob Wien, 90, of Highland Park, World War II Navy Veteran, die-hard Cubs and Bears fan, husband to Mim for 67 years, father to Allison (Marty) Salzman and Mike (Nannette) Wien, grandfather, friend and confidant to David and Julie Salzman, Brian, Andrew, and Jason Wien and brother to Byron (Anita) Wien passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 18, 2016. Bob and Mim led and exciting life and as Bob wrote, “they had more damn fun than anyone they knew.” They traveled, snow skied and played golf together for almost 60 years. Bob was best known for brightening up any room with his great sense of humor and his zest for life. While he enjoyed being a participant, he got great joy in his later years as a spectator keeping track and staying close to his five grandchildren. While they were his pride and joy, he had a special place in his heart for his grandson Brian who is afflicted with ML4, a rare storage disease that affects the nervous system. During his 20 year tenure as the President and President Emeritus of the Little Angels Parents Association, Bob, with the dedicated efforts of the Elgin Area Organization of Harley Owners (EAO), raised over $2 million to help improve the lives of the residents of Little Angels. Service and interment are private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Little Angels Center for Exceptional Care, 1435 Summit, Elgin, IL 60120. For more funeral info or directions please call Kelley & Spalding Funeral Home at (847) 831-4260.
