Highland Park Obituary: Dorothy Lytle Murray

Dorothy Lytle Murray passed away peacefully on December 30, 2015. She grew up in Highland Park, Illinois, attending the Lincoln School, Highland Park High School and then graduating from Northwestern University. In 1942, she married her beloved husband, George Murray. They were married for 65 years and raised three children, Barbara Hett (Richard) who died in 2012, Stephen (Anne) of Bannockburn, IL and Scott (Nora) of Lake Forest, IL. In 1965, the family left the Chicago area for Bath, Ohio before moving to Marietta, Georgia in 1972, where Dorothy spent most of the rest of her life before returning to Highland Park in 2012 to be nearer her family. Dorothy is survived by her brother, James Lytle, of Naples Florida, two of her children, Stephen and Scott, eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Dorothy devoted herself to her husband and children and to providing them with a loving home. Dorothy was an active member of her Church and loved gardening, playing golf and collecting antiques. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Guardian Hospice 181 Waukegan Road Northfield, IL 60093. A private Memorial Service is planned.
