Highland Park Obituary: Dr. Irving H. Rozenfeld, 93

A service will take place Wednesday at North Suburban Synagogue Beth El.

Dr. Irving H. Rozenfeld age 93, beloved husband of Betty nee Frankel for 70 years. Loving father of Dr. David (Barbara) Rozenfeld, Dr. Deborah (Rabbi Charles) Dobrusin, Dr. Ellen (Dr. Milford Schwartz) Rozenfeld, Jonathan (Jill Korey) Rozenfeld and Dr. Ranna (Dr. Shane Greenstein) Rozenfeld. Proud Zayde of Nami (David) Goldenberg, Yael (Phillip) Frankel, Dr. Michael (Dr. Payal) Rozenfeld, Shai (Samantha) Dobrusin, Daniel (fiancée Alex Tyson) Rozenfeld, Ethan and Emily Schwartz, Jordan and Sydney Rozenfeld, Noah, Rebecca, Ilana and Eli Greenstein. Cherished great grandfather of Gali and Eytan Goldenberg, Tali and Ari Frankel, Diya Rozenfeld. Dear brother of Dr. Martin (Florence) Rozenfeld. Fond uncle and great uncle of many. Beloved son of the late Nathan and Esther. He received his M.D. from the University of Chicago in 1947. After an appointment as instructor of Pediatrics at the U of C, he served as a pediatrician in the Air Force during the Korean War. His career as a distinguished pediatric neurologist extended over five decades. He was one of the first pediatric neurologists in the Midwest. His career included appointments at Michael Reese Hospital, University of Chicago and University of Illinois. He was on staff at Michael Reese Hospital for over 40 years and became Medical Director of the Developmental Institute and Director of Cerebral Palsy Clinic. He assumed leadership roles in Jewish Educational Organizations as President of the Allied Jewish School Board, Vice President of Education at NSSBeth El and Life Trustee at Camp Ramah in Wisconsin. His most important and lasting legacy is his love for and selfless devotion to his family. Service Wednesday 11 AM at North Suburban Synagogue Beth El, 1175 Sheridan Road, Highland Park, IL. 60035. Interment Waldheim. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Camp Ramah in Wisconsin Dr. Irving and Betty Rozenfeld Israel Scholarship Fund, 65 E. Wacker Place, Unit 1200, Chicago, IL 60601 or NSSBeth El.
