Highland Park Ranked Among America's 'Top Earning Cities'
NerdWallet.com list includes two North Shore municipalities.

There are only 57 cities in the United States where more than 50 percent of households earn more than $100,000 per year and two of them are on the North Shore.
A new report by NerdWallet.com, a personal finance website, analyzed income levels in more than 1,600 cities across the nation and listed the top 100 when it comes to combined household income per year. Lake Forest (No. 10) was the highest ranked city in Illinois, which Highland Park (No. 34) was not far behind.
The report indicates 65.5 percent of Lake Forest households earn more than $100,000 per year, with 51.5 percent at a mark of over $150,000 and 43.1 percent making more than $200,000.

In Highland Park, 55.8 percent of households are at or above the $100,000 threshold, with 38 percent over $150,000 and 28.4 percent at the $200,000 or higher level.
A Pew Research Center study places the average U.S. median household income at $52,250.
