Highland Park Man Faces Firearm Felonies: Blotter

Deerfield, Lake Forest and Waukegan men charged with DUI on the Highland Park police blotter from Nov. 20 to Nov. 26.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and court records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

CAR BURGLARIES

  • A resident in the 1800 block of Rosemary Road reported that someone had broken into their car and stolen a wireless speaker during the overnight hours of Nov. 20 to Nov. 21.
  • A resident in the 1700 block of Rosemary Road reported that someone got into his car during the overnight hours of Nov. 20 to Nov. 21. Nothing was reported stolen.
  • A resident in the 1700 block of Rosemary Road reported around 8:15 p.m. on Nov. 24 that someone had gotten into their unlocked car, stealing multiple gift cards from inside.

BURGLARIES TO VEHICLES

  • Someone stole the rear license plate of a car parked in the 500 block of Ravinia Road sometime prior to 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 19.
  • Someone stole the rear license plate from a company vehicle in the 200 block of Skokie Valley Road around 5 p.m. on Nov. 24.

RETAIL THEFT

  • Two unidentified people stole $3,000 to $5,000 worth of Apple products from a business in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road sometime prior to 10 p.m. on Nov. 20.
  • One unidentified person stole $1,000 worth of razors from a business in the 1500 block of Clavey Road prior to 1:15 p.m. on Nov. 21

THEFTS FROM UNLOCKED LOCKERS
Two patrons of a business in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road reported around 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 21 that someone had stolen their wallets from unlocked lockers.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY
Three unidentified people smashed a large window of a business in the 1600 block of Old Skokie Road and stole miscellaneous clothing items from inside during the overnight hours of Nov. 18 to Nov. 19.

ARRESTS

Karen Oganisyan, 39, of the 1600 block of Green Bay Road, Highland Park, was arrested around 8 p.m. on Nov. 20 after police were dispatched to Park Avenue Beach for a call about a suspicious vehicle. He was changed with two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon for having a loaded, unlicensed firearm on his person after he was found alone in his car with cannabis and a weapon without a concealed carry license. Oganisyan also received a citation for possession of a small amount of cannabis.

Roberto Lopez, 44, of the 1300 block of Adams Street, North Chicago, was arrested around 9 p.m. on Nov. 21 and charged with battery after police were dispatched to a report of an argument in the 800 block of Thackeray Drive.

Andrew DiGanci, 30, of the 1500 block of Cavell Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested around 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 23 after turning himself in to the Highland Park Police Department on an active warrant related to a charge of domestic battery.

Samuel Burns, 41, of the 800 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue, Lake Forest, was arrested around 4 a.m. on Nov. 22 and charged with felony DUI and driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop at the intersection of Route 41 and Old Elm Road. He was also ticketed for improper lane usage and speeding between 26 to 34 mph above the limit.

Donald Chapman, 71, of the 600 block of Carriage Way, Deerfield, was arrested around 9:15 p.m. on Nov. 23 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop at the intersection of Turnbull Woods and County Line Road.

Jamease Ademokunla, 43, of the 100 block of Drew Lane, Waukegan, was arrested around 4:45 a.m. on Nov. 25 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and ticketed for improper passing following a traffic stop at the intersection of Route 41 and Old Elm Road.
