Home Burglary, Stolen Catalytic Converters: Highland Park Blotter
The Highland Park Police Department handled complaints of theft, residential break-ins and made three arrests for a variety of crimes.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
THEFT

Police arrived at a home in the 1000 block of Central Avenue at 5:05 p.m. on Sept. 6 for a delayed report of a theft from a home. Items missing included a pair of earrings, a Yurman watch, a gold bracelet with stones, a gold ring with a large stone and a silver bracelet. The value of the missing items is not immediately known.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

Police arrived at a home in the 200 block of Hastings Avenue at 5:04 p.m. on Sept. 7 for a report of a home burglary. A person who did not have permission to enter the home did so and stole medication, police said.
Police arrived at a home in the 2000 block of Churchill Lane at 8:33 a.m. Sept. 8. A front door to the home was found to be forced open. Several drawers in the home were ransacked, but no items were determined to be missing.
THEFT OF A MOTOR VEHICLE/ACCESSORY
Two catalytic converters were stolen from a 2006 white Chevrolet pickup and a 2004 white Ford F350 between 5 p.m. on Sept. 7 and 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 8. The vehicles were parked behind Unique Builders at 172 Skokie Valley Road.
ARRESTS
Teresa L. Williams, 58, Grayslake, was arrested at 4:22 p.m. on Saturday and charged with theft of under $500, criminal trespass to property and criminal damage to property. Police arrived at the Highland Park Truck Company in the 2900 block of Skokie Valley Road where there reports of someone breaking a window and entered the business. Police said Williams removed a dealer plate from a vehicle and said that a baseball bat and a laptop computer were left at the scene. Williams was released on a personal recognizance bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 26.
Martwan L. Butler, 38, North Chicago, was arrested at 6:49 p.m. on Sept. 8 and was charged with driving without a valid registration, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, driving with a revoked or suspended license, and improper lane usage. Butler was charged after a traffic stop and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 8.
Samantha M. Freeman, 29, Highland Park, was arrested at 9:26 p.m. on Sept. 7 and charged with possession of a controlled substance, illegal use of cannabis by a driver of a vehicle and disobeying a stop sign. Williams was pulled over for a traffic stop and was arrested and released after a Zoom bond hearing and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
