Interim D-113 Superintendent Gets Educator's License

Retired Wisconsin Superintendent Daryl Herrick had been ineligible to serve in his new role.

Township High School District 113 has officially named retired Wisconsin Superintendent Daryl Herrick to the interim post in the district after he acquired the necessary educator credentials in Illinois to serve as a superintendent.

Herrick was hired in May to serve as interim superintendent through the 2015-16 school year as the district seeks a full-time replacement for George Fornero, who retired following the 2014-15 school year - according to the Highland Park News.

The district’s first choice, Dr. Laurie Kimbrel from a California high school district, was hired but resigned amid allegations her husband had participated in internet bullying and she had close ties to the district’s search firm.

Because Herrick had not obtained an Illinois educator’s license before he was scheduled to start on July 1, Deerfield High School Principal Christopher Dignam had fulfilled certain superintendent duties.
