Lakeshore Recycling Systems Will Be HP's Waste/Recycling Hauler
New contracts could mean reduction in residential waste rate.

The city of Highland Park has selected Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) as its waste and recycling hauler beginning on January 1, 2016.
LRS and the city will reach out to residents and commercial customers during the remainder of 2015.
The new contracts will offer residents and commercial properties the same service options that are currently being offered. There will be no changes to the collection day schedule for residents. All residents will see a decrease in rates, including base rate as well as in the sticker price for volume-based customers.

Additional service options, will also be offered to residents, including an opt-in organic collection subscription that coincides with landscape season, a once-per-week bulk item collection (in addition to the City’s traditional Spring Clean-Up program), a once-per-month electronics waste collection at no additional cost, plus implementation of a radio frequency identification (RFID) program that will eventually eliminate most needs for residents to purchase stickers.
Commercial and multi-family properties will also receive additional services, including an opt-in organic collection program, additional compactor size offerings, a once-per-week bulk item collection, plus the continuation of free recycling for containers of 1.5 cubic yards or less for once-per-week collection.
Commercial and multi-family properties will see a decrease in waste collection rates, however some recycling rates will see an increase.
