Library Hosts Sendak-Themed Family Rumpus

Event featured food drive, story time and a 'Wild Thing.'

 teamed with children Saturday morning during the Family Rumpus, a celebration that refers to the Maurice Sendak book Where The Wild Things Are.

"In a Nutshell: The Worlds of Maurice Sendak" . The exhibit showcases Sendak's work, revealing the connections between it and Sendak's childhood, family and popular culture of the time.

Saturday's Family Rumpus featured several Sendak related activities, such as a treasure hunt for items from his books, treats inspired by his books, a food drive for chicken soup with rice, a room to make Wild Thing collages and a "Max and friends" storytime.  There was also a Wild Thing wandering around the building for children to interact and have their photo taken.
