Machete-Wielding Man Barricades Himself In Highland Park Home
Court records indicate the man had an active arrest warrant after failing to show up to court on charges related to a DUI crash in 2022.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — A man who barricaded himself in a Highland Park house with a machete was arrested early Monday after an four-hour standoff with police, authorities said.
Diego Rosas, 22, was charged with two counts of domestic battery, according to city staff. He was due in court Wednesday for his initial court appearance.
Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of McDaniels Avenue shortly before 10:45 p.m. for a report of a battery.

But as time passed, local police called in a suburban SWAT team from the multi-jurisdictional Northern Illinois Police Alarm System.
Negotiations continued, and members of the SWAT team "peacefully resolved the incident" and took Rosas into custody around 2:45 a.m. on Wednesday.
Following a review of the facts of the cause, city staff said Lake County prosecutors a pair of misdemeanor counts against Rosas.
Court records show Rosas was charged with drunken driving of a uninsured car with no license and getting involved in a crash after using cannabis on Sept. 1, 2022, in Highland Park. But he failed to show up to court and a warrant was issued for his arrest last year.
