Featured Obituary:

Jean D. Schaller née Cole, 89, of Deerfield, passed away on August 20. 2017. Jean Cole was born in Milwaukee, WI on February 11, 1928 to Jeanette Doane and Richard Cole and grew up in Cincinnati, OH and then moved to Chicago, IL where she attended Nicholas Senn High School. Jean graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Liberal Arts, where she also met Richard Schaller. They got married on December 26, 1951.

After getting married they lived in Chicago for several years where they gave birth to Richard “Rick” K Schaller (Mary Catherine Shields) in November 1953(deceased) and Ray L Schaller in January of 1956. Shortly after Ray's birth they relocated the family to Wheeling, IL and added a third addition to the family, Holly Jean Schaller (Dennis Guge) in December 1961.

After five years in Wheeling, the family moved to Deerfield in the summer of 1965 and then the fourth child, Robert M Schaller, was born in February 1966. She was the beloved grandma to Jennifer Schaller Pearce, Jeanette Schaller Angermeier, Richard Patrick Schaller and Tara Kilgo and cherished great-grandma to four.

Jean worked from Braniff Airlines while they lived in Chicago and then took up teaching as a substitute teacher in the Wheeling School District. Shortly after the move to Deerfield, she continued teaching in the Wheeling School District as a regular teacher for first graders and retired in the early 1980's.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 10 a.m. until time of memorial service 11 a.m. at Kelley & Spalding Funeral Home, 1787 Deerfield Rd. Highland Park, IL.
