NSWRD Awarded for Compliance
Highland Park facility on Clavey Road earns a Gold honor from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies.

Submitted by the North Shore Water Reclamation District
The North Shore Water Reclamation District (NSWRD) has been honored with three awards from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA).
Each of the District’s three water reclamation facilities won a prestigious NACWA 2014 Peak Performance Award, including the Platinum 11 designation for the Waukegan plant and a Gold honor for the Clavey Road facility in Highland Park. The awards recognize member agencies that have achieved compliance with their National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit. Established in 1972 by the Federal Clean Water Act, the NPDES permit program is responsible for significant improvements in water quality in the United States.

The NSWRD’s Waukegan Wastewater Treatment Plant was among only 12 facilities nationally to receive Platinum 11 recognition for meeting its NPDES permit for 11 straight years. The Clavey Road plant was recognized with the Gold Award for 100 percent compliance in 2014.
NSWRD Board President Dan Pierce credited the District’s employees with earning the award.
