Obituary: Arthur Bross

Art was a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

Arthur Bross of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away at one of his daughter’s homes on Wednesday, December 30th 2015 due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease as he was surrounded by his loving family, caregivers and grand dog. Arthur, “Art” was born on October 17, 1928 in Bronx, NY to the late Joseph and Bessie Bross and preceded in death by 5 siblings. He was 87 years young.

Art served in the Army and the Army reserves, attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. Never one to back down from a challenge, he worked full time while attending City College of New York for his B.S.M.E and M.S.M.E. degrees.

Art was a Senior Engineer at IBM Microelectronics in Hopewell Junction, NY for the entirety of his working career. The author or editor of three books, he was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and holder of 10 U.S. patents. Art loved the country and lived his life with many passions – gardening, birding, antiquing, and barbecuing with a penchant for overcooked meats.

A selfless giver to anyone who touched his life, he was especially committed to Man to Man, a Prostate Cancer support group that assisted him when he was diagnosed.

Beloved husband of the late Isabel Beth Bross for 47 years. Devoted father to his two daughters, Judy (Jeff) Bramson of Highland Park, IL and Jill Bross of Westhampton, NY. His two grandchildren, Alex and Nina Bramson were the loves of his life. Memorial donations can be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Chapter Headquarters Greater Illinois, 8430 West Bryn Mawr, Suite 800.
