Political Yard Sign Thefts; Battery, Shoplifting Arrests: Blotter

Incidents and arrests from the Highland Park police blotter Oct. 22 to Oct. 28.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and court records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

STOLEN POLITICAL SIGNS
Two residents in the 2700 block of Western Avenue reported between 10 a.m. and noon on Oct. 26 that someone had stolen political signs from their yards.

THEFT FROM HOME
A resident in the 800 block of Laurel Avenue reported around 5:15 p.m. on Oct. 27 that someone stole jewelry from inside their home.

ARRESTS

Leonard Thomas, 31, of the 1200 block of South Kolin Lane in Chicago, was arrested around 4 a.m. on Oct. 25 and charged with retail theft of more than $300 after police were called to a shoplifting in progress at a business in the 600 block of Elm Place.

Ethan Ochoa, 19, of the 200 block of Briar Lane in Highland Park, was arrested aroung 11:42 a.m. on Oct. 28 amd charged with retail theft of less than $300 after police were called to a report of shoplifting at a business in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road.

Scott Browdy, 52, of the 500 block of Pleasant Avenue in Highland Park, was arrested around 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 28 and charged with battery when police responded to a call about an altercation in the 1200 block of Park Avenue West.

James Smith, 56, of the 1400 block of Regency Lane in Lake Villa, was arrested around 6 p.m. on Oct. 28 on an in-state warrant following a traffic stop around the intersection of Clavey Lane and Clavey Road.
