HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

SHOPLIFTING
Staff at the Binny's, 153 Skokie Valley Road, reported around 4:15 p.m. on July 20 that an unidentified man stole multiple items, including an $80 bottle of Remy Martin.

BIKE THEFT
Someone stole a black BMX bicycle between 5 and 7 p.m. on July 20 after it had been left unlocked and unattended on a driveway in the 700 block of Sheridan Road.

EGGING
Someone egged a home and an SUV in the 700 block of Dean Avenue between 11 p.m. July 20 and 6:36 a.m. July 11, leaving a carton behind and causing an unspecified amount of damage.

HOSE THEFT
Someone stole a gold yard nozzle valued at about $50 attached to a hose in from of a home in the 300 block of North Deere Park Drive East at some point between 11 p.m. July 25 and 7 a.m. July 26.

STOLEN CARS

  • Someone stole a Hyundai sedan from the rear of a building in the 1700 block of St. Johns Avenue sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 2:40 p.m., police were told the car keys were missing from a table.
  • Someone stole a Toyota SUV from a driveway in the 2900 block of Lexington Lane between 11:30 p.m. July 21 and 9:30 a.m. on July 22 after a garage door was left open overnight. The vehicle was found abandoned in Waukegan later that night. The keys were missing, but a credit card and debit card that were left inside were not used.

REPEAT PACKAGE THEFTS

  • Someone stole packages containing more than $1,300 worth of merchandise that had been delivered to a home in the 600 block of Central Avenue.on July 10, July 14 and July 15, police were told on the afternoon of July 16.
  • Another package worth $125 was stolen from the 600 block of Central Avenue on July 18, police were told on July 22.
  • Someone stole a package containing a laptop, electronics and musical equipment worth more than $2,500 after it was delivered to a home in the 600 block of Central Avenue on July 23, police were told two days later.

ARRESTS

Matthew Wright, 44, of the 600 block of Lamon Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. on July 22 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, interfering with with an officer and driving without a valid license following a traffic stop on Skokie Valley Road near Parkside Drive. He was also cited with illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage.

Asher Anderson, 19, of the 1700 block of Balsam Road, Highland Park, was arrested around 1 a.m. on July 22 at his home and charged with two counts of domestic battery after officers got a call of an argument there.

Michael Agostinelli, 51, of the 2900 block of Summit Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested around 11:15 p.m. on July 24 at an unspecified location and charged with two counts of domestic battery.
