Boy, 15, Stabbed To Death In Glenview
The Wednesday night homicide is the first in Glenview since 2004, according to police.

GLENVIEW, IL — A 15-year-old teenager is dead following a stabbing Wednesday night in Glenview. Elias J. Valdez, of the 10400 block of Dearlove Road, Unincorporated Glenview, was pronounced dead at 8:52 p.m. following the incident in the 1200 block of Greenwood Road. He was the victim of a homicide caused by stab wounds to the chest, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
Valdez was found lying in a grassy area at around 7:07 p.m. with a puncture wound to his chest, according to the Glenview Police Department. He was transported to Lutheran General Hospital, where he died during surgery.
It was the first murder in Glenview since 2004, according to police.

On Friday, the Glenview Police Department squashed social media rumors that a suspect had turned themselves in. Sgt. Jim Foley told Patch that no one is in custody at this time. He also said the active investigation is being managed by the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force.
Police shut down Greenwood Road southbound between East Lake and Springdale avenues from 10:47 p.m. Wednesday to 1:35 a.m. Thursday to investigate.

The Glenview Police Department, with the assistance of the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force, is investigating the incident. Further information will be released as it becomes available, according to police.

Valdez was a rising sophomore at Glenbrook South High School. A GoFundMe to cover funeral expenses has been set up for Valdez. As of Thursday evening, $5,000 of a $15,000 goal has been raised. GoFundMe is a Patch partner. Contributions can be made here.
According to an email sent out by GBS, Valdez "was a kind, charismatic young man who exhibited great leadership qualities."
The school is offering support to students and staff members both in-person and via Zoom on Friday. Members of the Student Services Department and administrators will be facilitating support sessions.
