Streamwood Man Charged With 2 Counts Of Domestic Battery: Blotter

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded than an arrest is not an indication of guilt, and criminal charges, which are often dropped or reduced, represent merely accusations by the state. All persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
INCIDENTS
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone used a key to scratch a silver Lexus parked in the 700 block of Lauren Avenue during the overnight hours of April 8 to 9. Two of the tires were also deflated and the valve stems were damaged.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone used blue and black spray paint to write various words on the concrete below a bridge in the 3500 block of Patten Road sometime before 10 a.m. on April 11.
THEFT
Someone stole money out of a tip jar at a business in the 1900 block of Sheridan Road, police were told at 5:25 p.m. on April 11.

ARRESTS
Matthew S. Kaplan, 30, of the 3600 block of Vantage Lane in Glenview, was arrested at 3:52 a.m. on April 13 and charged with misdemeanor violation of an order of protection after police were called for a report of an unwanted person at a parent's home in the 1800 block of Crescent Court, Highland Park. Nearly a week later, Kaplan remained held at Lake County Jail in lieu of 10 percent of a $30,000 bond ahead of a May 18 court date.
Michele Erikson, 48, of the 1100 block of Lincoln Avenue South in Highland Park, was arrested at 12:16 a.m. on April 14 following a traffic stop in the 2100 block of Green Bay Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08. She was also ticketed for running a stop light.
Gregory Kemp, 53, of the 100 block of Red Cedar Drive in Streamwood, was arrested at 9:40 p.m. on April 14 and charged with two counts of domestic battery after police were called to a report of a dispute at a home in the 600 block of Central Avenue.
