Telephone Calls, Driving Complaints Lead To Arrests: HP Blotter
Incidents and arrests from the Highland Park police blotter between Oct. 29 and Nov. 4.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and court records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
STOLEN CAR
Someone stole a car from a business in the 2900 block of Skokie Valley Road during the overnight hours of Nov. 3 to Nov. 4.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
About $3,000 in damage to a sign belonging to a business in the 1900 block of Second Street was reported on the morning of on Oct. 31. It was not known when the damage occurred.

ARRESTS
Dean West, 39, of the 1100 block of Sheridan Road, Winthrop Harbor, was arrested on Nov. 1 and charged with one count of felony hate crime after an investigation determined he had placed a phone call to a Highland Park synagogue on Oct. 29 and made threatening statements referencing the murder of 11 congregants at a synagogue in Pittsburgh two days prior. Joshua Simpkins, 24, of the 200 block of E. Court of Shorewood in Vernon Hills, was arrested around 2:15 p.m. on Oct. 30 after turning himself in to the Highland Park Police Department in connection with a charge of disorderly conduct related to an investigation into telephone harassment.
Steven E. Jacobs, 60, of the 3000 block of Parkside Drive in Highland Park, was arrested around 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 29 and charged with battery after police were called to a report of a dispute in the 1800 block of Green Bay Road.
Tiffany D. Thompson, 34, of the 4800 block of Crest Court in Waukegan, was arrested around 9:15 p.m. on Nov. 4 on an in-state arrest warrant in connection with a charge of violation of an order of protection and also charged with obstructing identification after police were called to an argument in the 1400 block of Park Avenue.
Alberto Pablo, 33, of the 3700 block of Fullerton Avenue in Chicago, was arrested around 3:15 a.m. on Nov. 2 by officers responding to a complaint about a driver near the intersection of Skokie Valley Road and Central Avenue and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He was also issued citations for disobeying a red light, disobeying a traffic signal or stop sign and improper lane usage.
A 30-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 9:15 p.m. on Oct. 31 and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license following a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Park Avenue. He was also issued a citation for disobeying a traffic signal or sign.
