These 10th District Residents Seek To Become Convention Delegates
The names of 30 residents of the 10th Congressional District will appear on March 17 primary ballots.

CHICAGO — The names of Illinois residents hoping to be picked for this summer's national political conventions in upcoming primary elections were certified for the ballot earlier this month.
In addition to voting for a candidate for their party's presidential nomination, voters in the north suburban 10th Congressional District will have an opportunity to pick between delegates for one of seven candidates — six Democrats and one Republican — in the March 17 primary, according to the Illinois State Board of Elections.
While the number of delegates assigned to each candidate will not be determined until after the votes have been counted, here is who has registered to be appear on the ballot as a delegate for a presidential candidate at July's Democratic Party national nominating convention in Milwaukee:

No one filed paperwork to be a delegate for either of the billionaires seeking the Democratic Party's nomination, Tom Steyer or Mike Bloomberg. There were also no potential delegates registered for Tulsi Gabbard or Deval Patrick.
If other candidates qualify to receive delegates at the convention by earning 15 percent or more of the vote but fails to slate enough delegate candidates, the vacancies will be filled by a post-primary procedure within 30 days, according to the Illinois Democratic Party's 2020 delegate selection plan.

Illinois Speaker Mike Madigan, in his role of state party chair, must certify the delegates in writing to the Democratic National Committee by May 1, according to the plan.
In the 10th District, three residents have registered to be Republican delegates for President Donald Trump at the Republican Party's national convention in August in Charlotte, North Carolina.
