Wanted Man Arrested, Woman Charged After Crashes: Blotter

Art stolen from a front lawn, drunk driver ticketed for driving too slow on the Highland Park police blotter for Sept. 11 - Sept. 16.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

HOME BURGLARY
The owner of property in the 1000 block of Central Avenue reported on the morning of Sept. 10 that someone had broken into their house between Sept. 7 and Sept. 9. It appeared the front door has been forced open, and nothing was reported stolen.

CELL PHONE THEFT
A patient at Highland Park Hospital reported around 1 p.m. on Sept. 12 that their cell phone had been stolen from a facility in the 700 block of Park Avenue.

CAR BURGLARIES

  • A business owner in the 1200 block of Old Skokie Road reported at 2:48 a.m. on Sept. 13 that someone had opened the rear door to an equipment trailer, but nothing was reported stolen.
  • Landscaping equipment was reported stolen from a locked trailer parked in the 1500 block of Old Skokie Road sometime prior to 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 13.

VANDALISM
A resident in the 1800 block of Sheridan Road reported at 5:41 p.m. on Sept. 14 that someone had used a permanent market to deface the hood of a vehicle.

ART THEFT
A homeowner in the 1800 block of Crescent Court reported on Sept. 15 that someone had stolen a piece of art from their front yard during the prior week. The piece had been displayed on the yard for several years.

ARRESTS

Edward Dapier, 44, of the 100 block of Welwyn Street in Lake Bluff, was arrested around 1 a.m. on Sept. 12 by officers responding to a call about a car stopped at the intersection of County Line and Skokie Valley roads and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and DUI with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more. He was also cited for driving below the speed limit. Court records indicate he had been on probation after pleading guilty to violating an active order of protection following an arrest by North Chicago police earlier this year.

Allen Murdock, 32, of the 2700 block of Westwood Drive in Waukegan, was arrested at 4:07 a.m. on Sept. 12 after officers responded to a one-car accident at the intersection of the Edens Expressway and Clavey Road. He was arrested on an in-state warrant and charged with driving with a suspended license. He was also issued citations for failure to report an accident to police and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash. Court records indicate he was wanted for escape after failing to report from a furlough during a sentence of periodic imprisonment connected to a third or subsequent conviction for driving with a revoked or suspended license.

Thomas G. Errico, 77, of the 1200 block of Wincanton Drive in Deerfield, turned himself in around 8 a.m. on Sept. 14 at the Highland Park Police Department to face felony financial exploitation charges following his indictment the previous month.

Jennifer L. Garvey, 53, of the 2200 block of Lardale Drive in Glenview, was arrested around 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 16 by officers responding to a two-car traffic crash at the intersection of County Line and Green Bay roads. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash. There were no reported injuries and the cars did not need to be towed.

Michael Escorza, 20, of the 300 block of 154th Street in Calumet City was arrested around 1:07 a.m. on Sept. 17 and charged with possession of an unspecified controlled substance, possession of between 30 and 100 grams of cannabis and driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the area of Skokie Valley Road and Park Avenue. He was also issued a citation for speeding 26 to 34 mph above the limit.
