Watch Out for Flash Flooding Wednesday: Highland Park Officials
Heavy rainfall from thunderstorms could cause the hazardous conditions. Find out how residents can stay safe.

Highland Park, IL—City officials are warning Highland Park residents to watch out for flash flooding caused by the heavy rainfall from thunderstorms Wednesday.
"Given the very moist air mass, these storms will be capable of producing rainfall rates up to two inches per hour, which could lead to localized flash flooding," a city press release stated. "The City of Highland Park is monitoring the situation and taking proactive steps to eliminate the potential danger for residents."
Residents are advised to take the following actions during this time:

- move cars and other personal property to high ground
- make sure storm drains are clear of debris
- avoid areas with rapid water flow during heavy rain or flooding situations
- don't let children to play near high water, storm drains or washes
- don't drive through floodwaters
