Window Smashers Escape Getting Caught In The Act: Blotter
A 40-year-old Highland Park man and a 19-year-old Highland Park woman were among those accused of drunk driving: HPPD Blotter April 9–15

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
THEFT FROM VEHICLE
Someone stole eight tires and their rims from a car parked in the 2900 block of Skokie Valley Road during the night of April 10 or early morning of April 11.
PICKPOCKETING
Someone stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the purses of wallets of multiple people throughout April 12 at an unspecified location in the 1200 block of County Line Road.

HOME BURGLARY
Someone got into a home in the 1600 block of Green Bay Road prior to 1 p.m. on April 8 and stole multiple pieces of jewelry and other valuables with an unspecified value. There were no signs that someone had broken in.
HOME BREAK-IN
Someone broke into a home in the 800 block of Bob-O-Link Road prior to 8 p.m. on April 10. Nothing was reported missing from the residence.

BROKEN WINDOWS
Police dispatched shortly after 3:30 a.m. to the 2300 block of Skokie Valley Road and discovered a window that had been broken by a rock. While at the scene, officers a heard burglar alarm began sounding from nearby business on the same block. Police found another broken window but were unable to locate any suspects.
CAR BURGLARY
Someone stole a purse from a car parked in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road after smashing the driver's side window of the car at some point prior to 8:15 p.m. on April 14.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone keyed the front doors of a car parked in the 800 block of Virginia Road prior to 4 p.m. on April 8, causing an unspecified amount of damage.
ARRESTS
Bianca Sarmiento-Arbex, 19, of the 700 block of Llewellyn Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested around 4:30 a.m. on April 8 and charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor and ticketed for a parking violation following a traffic stop at the intersection of Central Avenue and Green Bay Road. Police said she was also charged under the state zero tolerance law for underage drunk driving.
A 20-year-old Waukegan woman was arrested around noon on April 11 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the 800 block of Sheridan Road. She was also issued a speeding ticket.
Matthew J. Deming, 40, of the 500 block of Braeside Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested at 1:41 a.m. on April 13 following a traffic stop in the 1600 block of Deerfield Road. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater and issued a citation for speeding between 26 and 34 mph above the posted limit.
A 42-year-old Highwood man was arrested around 8:30 a.m. on April 13 and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license, without insurance or a valid registration following a traffic stop in the 400 block of Roger Williams Avenue. He was also issued a speeding ticket.
Olyvia K. Asencio, 25, of the 3800 block of West 68th Place, Chicago, was arrested at 10:23 a.m. on April 13 and charged with DUI—alcohol after police were called to the first block of Skokie Valley Road. She was also issued a citation for illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol by a driver.
