Warrants found for Highland Park man during FOID check, Kenosha man after traffic stop: Highland Park police blotter for April 2 to April 8

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
THEFT
Unidentified thieves stole multiple cans of baby formula around 3 p.m. on April 1 from a location in the 1600 block of Deerfield Road for an unspecified loss.

ARRESTS
William Ori, 33, of the 600 block of Homewood Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested at 8:53 p.m. on April 4 on an active Lake County warrant by officers conducting a Firearms Owners Identification Card revocation check at his home. He had forfeited bond while out on bail following a July 2018 arrest on a drunk driving charge in Lake Forest. He was turned over to Lake County Jail and released on an unspecified bond following an April 6 hearing.

Jesus Salazar, 28, of the 6300 block of 11th Avenue in Kenosha, Wisconsin, was arrested at 10:52 p.m. on April 6 after officers were dispatched to an unspecified type of complaint in the 800 block of Central Avenue. A warrant had been issued for his arrest in connection with a charge of theft of three counts of theft under $300 in January 2010 in Zion. Highland Park police turned Salazar over to the Lake County Jail where he was released following a bond hearing.
Taron Neal, 25, of the 200 block of Oakridge Avenue, Hillside, was arrested at 1:43 a.m. on April 6 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. His license was suspended after he refused to provide a sample to arresting officers following a traffic stop at the intersection of Compton Avenue and Half Day Road. Officers also wrote him tickets for improper use of a turn signal and improper lane usage. He was released on a personal recognizance bond ahead of a May 3 arraignment.
Jason P. Powell, 55, of the 400 block of Hazel Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested at 11:52 p.m. on April 7 and charged with contributing to the criminal delinquency of a minor and permitting gathering of people under 21 years old after police were called to his home for an unspecified complaint. He was charged with felony contributing to the criminal delinquency of a minor and authorizing the use of his home for minors to drink alcohol. Last month, he pleaded guilty to a violation of Highland Park's city ordinance prohibiting a public nuisance. Powell still faces three misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, contributing to the criminal delinquency of a minor and authorizing the use of his residence for minors drinking alcohol after police were called to his house on Feb. 14.
