Zion Man Charged With Hit-And-Run In Injury Crash: HP Blotter
Three musical instruments stolen; Kentucky man charged with drugged driving; graffiti discovered: Highland Park police blotter, June 17–23

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
CAR BURGLARIES
- A resident in the 300 block of Laurel Avenue reported on the evening of June 19 that someone had stolen a wallet from inside an unlocked car on June 6.
- A resident reported around 9 a.m. on June 20 that someone had stolen a wallet from inside their car after they dropped a key fob while entering a business in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road.

- Someone stole three musical instruments valued at $1,900 from the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road, police were told on the morning of June 21.
- Someone stole a cell phone from inside a purse in the 200 block of St. John's Avenue prior to 1:30 p.m. on June 21.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone discovered graffiti on various pieces of park equipment in the 2000 block of St. John's Avenue on the morning of June 21. Graffiti was also discovered on multiple work trailers in the 2000 block of Logan Street on the afternoon of June 21.

ARRESTS
A 20-year-old Deerfield man was arrested shortly before 3 a.m. on June 23 and charged with possession of alcohol by a minor, cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and less than 10 grams of cannabis and ticketed for driving without a properly displayed license plate following a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Eastwood Avenue.
Michael Smith, 26, of the first block of Warren Court in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky, was arrested around 5 a.m. on June 23 and charged with driving under the influence of drugs and driving with a revoked license. Smith was also issued citations for an improper turn, improper lane usage, failure to display proof of insurance and possession of less than 10 grams of cannabis following a traffic stop in the 100 block of Half Day Road.
Christopher Burge, 28, of the 1500 block of South Kedvale Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 2:30 a.m. on June 24 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more. Burge was also issued citations for illegal transportation of alcohol, speeding 21 to 25 mph over the limit and illegally tinted windows following a traffic stop in the 2700 block of Skokie Valley Road.
Deandre Buckley-Jordan, 21, of the 4000 block of Bluestem Circle, Zion, was arrested around 5 a.m. on June 24 and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license and leaving the scene of an accident. He was also cited for failure to report an accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured motor vehicle following an investigation into a crash in the 300 block of Central Avenue. He struck two other vehicles, causing minor injuries to one driver, before officers found him in a parked vehicle within a block of the crash site with front-end damage on his vehicle, police reported.
