HINSDALE, IL — Three people at the Hinsdale hospital died as a result of the coronavirus over a day's time this week, according to the hospital chain's latest information. As of Wednesday, the hospital had 37 coronavirus patients, more than double the number a little more than a week earlier.

At 2 p.m. Wednesday, the Amita chain reported in an email to Patch that the coronavirus had claimed the lives of three people in the preceding 24 hours at Amita Adventist Medical Center Hinsdale. The chain has not reported the total number of coronavirus-related deaths since the pandemic began. Elmhurst Hospital, by contrast, regularly releases that information to the public.

In the same email, Amita said its hospital in La Grange had 26 cases of the coronavirus as of Wednesday, but no deaths in the preceding day.
