Early in the morning last Wednesday, men burglarized Kelsey resale boutique, 49 S. Washington St. Four have since been arrested.

"We don't often see something so egregious and obnoxious and overt as two carloads of offenders coming to town," Police Chief Brian King told the Village Board. It was "horrific having six individuals bust through a door like that and load things in garbage bags."

He said police were able to interrupt the burglary because a citizen called about a suspicious car downtown.

That resulted in a quick chase, which is documented on video. Another car got away.

"We have four in custody. We're working diligently to get four more in custody," King said. "We're pursuing a lot of leads. Thankfully, we were able to recover a fair amount of property."

The last business burglaries downtown were 2½ years ago, in which arrests were made, the chief said.

In May 2023, the Kelsey boutique was burglarized early in the morning.

Suspects used a sledgehammer to break through the glass door and took merchandise before leaving the store in less than two minutes, police said. Surveillance footage showed the suspects in two SUVs.

As it happens, the second floor of the same building is occupied by Reflexion Spa. Last month, the spa's owner, 51-year-old Jason W. Spencer of Houston, was arrested on felony charges of unauthorized video recordings without getting consent.

Police said they identified more than 60 victims who were unknowingly and illegally recorded in treatment rooms.

Hinsdale is working to revoke Reflexion's business license.
