Hinsdale Humane Society’s annual Pet Walk fundraiser returns in 2015 for the 26th year on Sunday, June 7 from 9 a.m. -1 p.m. at Katherine Legge Memorial Park, 5901 S. County Line Road in Hinsdale. This family-friendly event features a new Kids’ Dash at 11 a.m. and a “Be a Hero for Animals” theme.
We are asking attendees to please be a hero for their own pets by keeping them home, safe from canine flu during this year’s Pet Walk, and to instead consider bringing a photo of their pets.

Attendees to this year’s event will see the hero theme throughout the Walk. The new Kids’ Dash for the youngest participants will give them a chance to race in their capes as heroes for homeless animals, and receive a special hero’s dog tag pendant upon completion. Dog trophies will be awarded to the top dash winners. All attendees can visit the special “Be a Hero” photo booth to have their picture taken.
Registration is $25 per adult and includes a Pet Walk t-shirt. Also new this year is family registration for a flat $50 fee that covers registration and two t-shirts or two super hero capes. Additional t-shirts and capes will be available for $10 each at the event. Attendees will also receive goody bags, while supplies last.

This year will also feature set start times for the Walk, one at 9:30 a.m. and a second at 11:30 a.m. After walkers complete the course, there will be numerous activities such as: K9 officer presentations, a petting zoo, pony rides, Ask-a-Vet and Ask-a-Trainer booths, pet psychic, entertainment for children and adults, and more.
Friend of HHS, Judy Hsu from ABC-7 morning news, will preside over Pet Walk, welcoming participants, announcing events and helping make the day extra special for everyone.
The Pet Walk “Shopping Mall” features dozens of local vendors, many of whom have free giveaways for attendees. Local rescue groups will also be featured within the mall area. Beverages and fresh grilled brats and hot dogs prepared by the Hinsdale Rotary will be available for purchase.
