Hinsdale South Student Brings BB Gun to School

The student was taken into police custody, and they expect to file charges.

A Hinsdale South High School student brought a BB gun to school, Hinsdale Township High School District 86 reported Wednesday, and Darien police have indicated they expect to file charges.

A student came forward to report the weapon to school staff, and the student with the gun was separated “within moments” from other students, according to a Hinsdale Township High School District 86 news release.

Police said a broken BB gun was found among the student’s things, and the situation was resolved without incident.

The student who had the gun was taken into custody by the Darien Police Department.

The district administration commended the student who came forward, the school administration, the school resource officer and the deans for their prompt and professional response.
