Hinsdale Man Charged in Deadly Hit and Run Crash
Witnesses say the driver turned off his headlights and fled the scene of the crash. He was found walking the area, cops said.

Bridgeview, IL -- Bail was set at $500,000 for a Hinsdale man accused of fleeing the scene of a fatal accident Sunday evening in Bridgeview.
Wladyslaw Dziadkowiez, 58, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident with injury or death.

The prosecutor said that Dziadkowiez was driving northbound around 8 p.m. May 1 in the 8700 block of South Harlem Avenue in Bridgeview when his 2003 Ford van crashed into 2012 Toyota occupied by two elderly women.
After the accident, Dziadkowiez turned off his headlights and fled the scene without checking to see to the women were okay, the prosecutor said.

Dziadkowiez allegedly drove to a shopping plaza in the 8600 block of South Harlem between a CVS store and McDonald’s where he abandoned his car.
A witness gave a description of the driver, later identified as Dziadkowiez, to Bridgeview police. Officers found Dziadkowiez walking in the area and took him into custody, the prosecutor said.
The women were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. While en route, the 76-year-old woman went into cardiac arrest and died on the way to the hospital.
The prosecutor said the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the woman died of her injuries from the accident. Her name is not being released pending notification of her family members who reside out of the country.
The other woman in the car was 65 years old. She was treated and released from the hospital the same evening. Police said the two women were friends.
The assistant public defender told judge that Dziadkowiez was self-employed and lived in Hinsdale with his father.
Dziadkowiez is currently on probation for driving on a revoked license. He also has past DUI convictions from 1992 and 2000, the prosecutor said.
It is not known if Dziadkowiez was allegedly impaired at the time of the crash.
In addition to the $500,000 bail, Judge Felice ordered Dziadkowiez to be held on house arrest and to wear a GPS tracker should he bond out.
Dziadkowiez's next court appearance is May 27.
