CLARENDON HILLS, IL – Buses with migrants from the U.S.-Mexico border have been dropped off in Hinsdale and Westmont, according to the village of Clarendon Hills.

The buses have stopped off at Hinsdale's and Westmont's Metra stations for transportation to shelters in Chicago, the village of Clarendon Hills said in an email alert to residents

"There have been no known issues and the people have gotten on the trains," Clarendon Hills said in the notice. "However the Village has temporarily closed the train station and shelters, and increased police patrols."

As a result, Clarendon Hills may join other suburbs in enacting regulations to discourage Texas from dropping off migrants there.

On Wednesday, the Village Board is set to hold a rare post-Christmas meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Village Hall. Information on the meeting was released on Christmas Eve, indicating the measure's perceived urgency.

The only item on the meeting agenda is amending the city's ordinance to "prohibit unscheduled bus stops and make conforming changes."

As of Tuesday morning, the village had yet to release any proposed provisions. In an email, Village President Zach Creer said the village would post the final language of the ordinance as soon as its attorney provides it.

Chicago has passed an ordinance to punish bus companies carrying migrants if they don't follow the city's new restrictions. That includes the seizure of buses.

The rules have caused Texas, which hires the bus firms, to send the buses to the suburbs, prompting some of them to enact new regulations. Those towns include Aurora, Tinley Park and University Park.
