No Arrests Made After Canine Search at Hinsdale Central

A shelter-in-place directive kept students and staff inside classrooms and offices for about half an hour Wednesday morning.

No arrests were made after a prescheduled but unannounced canine search Wednesday morning at Hinsdale Central High School, Hinsdale police reported.

The search is part of an ongoing Hinsdale Township High School District 86 effort to promote a drug free learning environment, according to a news release.

A shelter-in-place directive kept students and staff inside classrooms and offices for about half an hour Wednesday morning while the search was completed. Classes and activities were held as usual during the search.

Canines searched regular hallway lockers, PE locker rooms and randomly selected classrooms, the release stated.

The shelter-in-place was lifted right after the dogs left the school, said Karen Warner, director of communications for the district, and regular school activities resumed.
