Westmont Man Leads Police On Chase, Charged With DUI: Cops

The man, whose alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit, had an open beer bottle in his car, prosecutors said.

WESTMONT, IL – A Westmont man who led police on a chase Monday was charged with drunken driving, with his blood-alcohol level more than twice the legal limit, authorities said.

Brock Vidito, 21, was charged with the felonies of aggravated fleeing and aggravated DUI and multiple misdemeanors and petty traffic offenses, according to a news release from DuPage County prosecutors.

About 8 p.m., Westmont police received a number of calls about a pickup truck driver, later identified as Vidito, speeding near Grant and Richmond streets, prosecutors said. An officer who saw Vidito run a stop sign at Dallas and Lincoln streets tried to pull him over, police said.

But Vidito continued to drive and ran through more stop signs, the news release said. He ended up pulling into a driveway and got out of the truck. Officers said they found an open bottle of Corona beer inside the truck.

Vidito was taken to the DuPage County Jail, where he was held on a $250,000 bond, with the requirement for him to pay 10 percent. He paid that amount and was released.

“Public safety remains a top priority of my office, and while the allegations against Mr. Vidito do not include a high-speed chase, what he is accused of is just as dangerous,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in the news release.
