GoFundMe Created For Lockport Bicyclist Killed In Hit And Run

LOCKPORT, IL — The family of a Lockport man killed in a hit and run in Florida has created a GoFundMe for funeral expenses and financial support for his two children. Jacob Weinert, 28, was riding his bike to work Tuesday in Florida when he was struck by a pickup truck.
The driver fled the scene and Weinert was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. According to the GoFundMe page, the family updated Wednesday that the person responsible for hitting Weinert had turned themselves in to police.
Weinert was working in Florida as a forklift operator while his fiance and children were living in Lockport. According to the GoFundMe, Weinert was trying to save enough money to move his family to Florida, where he and his fiance planned to raise their two children.

Weinert grew up in Lockport, and graduated from Lockport Township High School in 2009.
