Lockport Approves Purchase Of Police, Public Works Vehicles
The council approved the purchase of four 2021 Ford Police Interceptors, a bucket truck, and a Ford F-450 service truck.
LOCKPORT, IL — The Lockport City Council approved the purchase of four police patrol cars at its Wednesday meeting. According to council documents, four 2021 Ford Police Interceptors were approved, with a cost not to exceed $140,000 through the suburban purchasing cooperative.
Council documents state the funds for this purchase will come from the budgeted 2021 capital and the federal asset forfeiture.
The four new vehicles are replacing four patrol cars which "have exceeded the age and mileage limits needed for their current purpose," council documents state. The old vehicles are 8 years old, and at least two will be transferred to the Emergency Management Agency.

Public Works Vehicle Purchases
The council also approved the purchase of a bucket truck for the Public Works Department. According to council documents, the truck will cost $137,265 and is replacing another bucket truck which has a blown engine.

The cost to repair the engine is estimated at $30,000, so council documents state it would be more cost-effective to purchase a new truck.
A purchase of a 2021 Ford F-450 service truck was also approved in the amount of $58,556. According to council documents, it is replacing a service truck which is rusting in many places and has cost $24,292.63 in repairs since 2013.
