Lockport Home Uninhabitable After Fire On Thursday: Fire District

The cause of the fire appears to be accidental but is being investigated by the Lockport Fire Investigators, officials said.

LOCKPORT, IL — A Lockport home is uninhabitable after a fire on Thursday evening, according to the Lockport Township Fire Protection District.

The structure fire was reported at 5:50 p.m. on Oct. 3 on Franklin Street. Fire companies arrived to find a fire on the first floor of a single-family home, the fire district said.

Crews on scene used multiple hose lines and were able to get the fire under control in a short amount of time, according to the fire district. One occupant was home at the time of the incident and was uninjured.

There is extensive damage to the home, which left the home uninhabitable, the fire district said.

The fire was upgraded to a "Full Still," which brought in mutual aid assistance from Homer, Lemont, and Northwest Homer to the scene while East Joliet, Lemont, Bolingbrook, and Romeoville covered the Lockport stations.
