Man Fatally Shot Himself At Lockport Gun Shop: Sheriff
Police believe the man took his own life.
LOCKPORT, IL — A man took his own life at Rink's Gun and Sport, 14363 Archer Ave., on Thursday, according to the Will County Sheriff's Office. Richard Labus Jr., 50, was pronounced dead at Silver Cross Hospital at 6:24 p.m. on Thursday, according to the Will County Coroner's Office.
Labus rented a handgun and went into the shooting range and began target shooting at 3:45 p.m., according to police. He then turned around and shot himself in the chest, police said.
Employees called 911 and provided medical care until Northwest Homer Fire Protection District arrived, and he was taken to Silver Cross, police said. Business video surveillance confirmed this information, police said.
