Obituary: Kathy (Kryzak) Strysik

She was well known for her strong faith and quick wit.

Obituary was published and funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home and Crematory.

Kathy (Kryzak) Strysik

Kathy (nee Kryzak) Strysik passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025, in Joliet, Illinois, at Lightways Hospice Home surrounded by family, at the age of 82. She was born on February 17, 1943, in Joliet, Illinois, the daughter of the late Albin and Marie (nee Kozubek) Krzyzak. She was a graduate of St. Francis Academy class of 1960.

Kathy was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and had fond memories of her dinners with girlfriends. She was well known for her strong faith, quick wit and had a great passion for listening to music.

Kathy is survived by her children, Edward (Louisa) Strysik Jr, Susan (the late Glenn) Steed, Tiffany (John) Bolek, Stephen (Bianca) Strysik, and Sarah (Chris) Bosi; six grandchildren, Stephen, Casey, Joshua, Jenna, Emily and Olivia, whom she adored and loved; her former husband and dear friend, Edward C. Strysik and her brother, Robert (Marsha) Kryzak. She also leaves behind numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Douglas R. Strysik; grandchild, Edward C. Strysik III, and brother, Albin (Butch) Kryzak.

As it was her request, cremation rites have been accorded and services will be held privately by the family.
