Will County Board Member Announces Candidacy For 3rd District

The primary election will be held March 17, 2020.

HOMER GLEN, IL — Homer Glen resident and Will County Board minority leader Mike Fricilone has announced his candidacy as a republican candidate for Illinois' 3rd Congressional District. The primary election will be held March 17, 2020.

“As a lifelong resident of District 3, I am thrilled to be running for the United States House of Representatives to represent this dynamic district,” Fricilone said in a release. “It is a diverse region of our state and I understand the needs and wants of our residents. I will work hard to make sure each person is well-represented and do what is best for our communities.”

According to a release, Fricilone has served as a Will County Board member since 2012 where he also was the Finance Committee Chair and Vice Chair of the Capital committee. While he served as finance committee chair, the county reduced the tax rate for four consecutive years.

“During my time on the County Board I have always fought to reduce the tax burden on residents and will continue to make that a priority for District 3 citizens,” Fricilone said. “I want to reduce the size of the government and its regulations to foster the growth of small businesses.”

Fricilone’s other priorities include bolstering the growing economy in order to provide more and better paying job opportunities; strengthening the workforce training opportunities in the district; working to make sure veterans are provided for; and improving sustainability efforts.

Fricilone is the son of a tool and die maker and mother who raised six children. He lives in Homer Glen with his wife, Barb. They have three grown children and six grandchildren.

According to a release, Fricilone is a graduate of Knox College in Galesburg. He is the executive director of Midwest Office Interiors in Woodridge. He has also served as the president of the Lockport High School Foundation, Executive Board Member of the Children Advocacy Center, former Vice President of the Order Sons of Italy in America and a member of the finance committee of his church.

The third congressional district is currently represented by Dan Lipinski. Lipinski has served in the position since 2005.
