3-Year-Old Killed By Suspected DUI Driver, Sister Fighting For Life

Police are investigating a Dolton crash and suspected DUI that claimed the life of a 3-year-old Saturday night, and hospitalized her sister.

DOLTON, IL — A family is grieving and police are investigating after an alleged drunk driver hit a car carrying two sisters Saturday night, killing one.

Layla Nesbitt, 3, and sister A'Miya, 4, were being driven home by a family friend when the car they were riding in was struck by a suspected drunken driver near train tracks at East 138th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue, WGN reports.

Both girls were ejected from the vehicle, according to the report. Layla died from her injuries; her sister is currently fighting for her life at Comer Children's Hospital. The driver of the car the girls were in suffered a broken leg.

The girls' mother Renika Fuselier told WGN that Layla loved to dance, and was about to start kindergarten.

The driver who is suspected of DUI remains hospitalized. Police said charges could be forthcoming.
