Every day, another individual or family hears the words that can change everything: “You have cancer.”

The diagnosis may happen in a doctor’s office, but its impact follows people home. Bringing questions, fear and uncertainty that can extend far beyond medical treatment.

That is where the Cancer Support Center steps in.

The countdown is now on for this year’s Pink-a-Boo, happening Sunday, October 18 at Irwin Park in Homewood, and the Cancer Support Center is just shy of its $50,000 fundraising goal.

There is still time for the community to help close the gap.

Held during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Pink-a-Boo brings the community together to recognize those impacted by cancer while raising funds to support the Cancer Support Center’s broader mission of serving people affected by any cancer, at any stage.

Cancer can affect emotional health, relationships, family life, work and the everyday routines that once felt normal. It affects the person diagnosed, but it can also change life for spouses, caregivers, children, parents and friends.

Pink-a-Boogives the community a way to show up for all of them.

Some participants will walk for themselves. Some will walk in support of someone currently facing cancer. Others will walk in honor or memory of someone they love.

Every step tells a story.

With Walk Day approaching, there is still time to register for the 5K or 1-Mile Walk, participate in the 10-Step Survivor Walk, join or support a team, donate to an individual walker, or make a direct contribution toward the $50,000 goal.
